Lady Giants Soar at Flier Invitational

The Fremont Ross Lady Giants wrestling team turned in an impressive showing over the weekend at the Lady Fliers Invite in Clyde, using the event as both a competitive opportunity and a developmental step for a growing program. Added to the schedule at the last minute by Head Coach Jen Long, the tournament allowed the Lady Giants to get one more event in for a deep roster of 26 wrestlers, while also providing valuable mat time for newer athletes.
Despite not bringing a full lineup, Fremont Ross competed with determination throughout the day and finished in second place overall, missing the team title by just one point. The result underscored the depth and balance of the Lady Giants roster.
Individually, Keyonna Vann led the way with a first-place finish. Strong performances continued from Kailani Long, Jaiden Long, and Adelynne Scherer-Feighner, who each earned second-place finishes, while Malaya Hughes rounded out the medalists with a third-place showing.
Coach Long expressed pride in her team’s effort, noting, “We are very proud of these ladies for taking second place by one point, despite not taking our full lineup. We are blessed with a big roster.”
The Lady Giants will now shift their focus to continued preparation as they get ready for the Findlay Fight Tournament on December 19th and 20th, where the experience gained in Clyde will serve as an important building block moving forward.
