Lady Giants Dominate Bowling Green in 59-23 Victory

The Fremont Ross Lady Giants put together a complete team performance on Tuesday night, cruising to a commanding 59–23 victory over Bowling Green. From the opening tip to the final buzzer, it was relentless, suffocating defense that set the tone and never let up.
The Lady Giants made life difficult for Bowling Green all night, allowing just four players to score—and holding each of them to single-digit point totals. Defensive pressure, active hands, and strong rebounding fueled the lopsided result and kept the Bobcats out of rhythm from start to finish.
On the offensive end, freshman guard Sarai Oman stole the spotlight. Oman poured in a career-high 21 points, showcasing confidence and poise well beyond her years. She accomplished the feat in just three quarters of action, as head coach Juan Vela was able to rest several starters late in the game with the outcome well in hand.
It was a wire-to-wire performance by the Lady Giants, one that reflected the work put in during practice throughout the week. Following the game, Coach Vela praised his team’s effort but also emphasized areas for improvement.
“I’m proud of the girls,” Vela said. “We had a good week of practice leading up to the game. It was a good game—not a great game. We still need to work on taking care of the basketball. We had way too many turnovers, but we made up for it with our defense and rebounding.”
With the win, Fremont Ross improves to 7–4 on the season. The Lady Giants now turn their attention to the Napoleon Wildcats, who will visit the Purple Pit this Saturday in a game previously postponed due to weather. The Junior Varsity contest will tip off at 5:30 p.m., followed by the varsity matchup.
The Lady Giants will look to build on their defensive intensity as they continue their push through the heart of the season.
